Your Face in the Stars

by Mike Preissner

As I sit staring into space,

Looking out at the wonders of the Universe,

I see something.

I rub at my eyes, disbelieving.

Taking another look, I behold only one wonder, you , your face in the stars.

My breath catches in my throat,

And suddenly the face has a body,

And becomes real not more than ten feet from me.

I behold this angel,

And move toward her,

No longer a face in the stars.

I kiss her, feeling her soft lips against mine,

And I know my life is complete,

And rich am I for I have you.

I thank God for sending me this angel,

Even as she kisses me again,

And walks away.

And then she stops, turns around,

And in an instant she is gone,

Leaving behind a lovely scent.

Then I look up,

And I smile,

As I see your face in the stars.
